3-Dimensional Art 1:  Offers the fundamentals of making 3-D forms and develops skills to create sculptural art with a variety of materials.  Learn how to make basic 3-D forms and make your own creative sculptures using paper and found objects.

3-Dimensional Art 2:  Explore a variety of sculptural techniques including, carving away and building up forms. Practice taking your sketches and making them 3-dimensional, learn how to choose the right material for an idea and structurally develop it into a sculpture.

Acrylic Painting:  An introduction to acrylic painting techniques, emphasizing exploration of paint and brushstroke aesthetics.  Learn how to utilize color, line, value, form, texture and composition successfully in your paintings.  No experience required, come and learn something new!

Basket Weaving:   Create your own basket and learn basic basket weaving techniques.  Nikki will guide you through the process, sharing her own experience and basket weaving tips with you!

Clay Wind Chimes:  Making clay wind chimes is a great opportunity to try your hand at clay, while making a unique and functional piece of kinetic artwork.  The design process, basic clay techniques, how to add textural qualities, and piecing together your wind chime design will be incorporated in the class.

Digital Photography:  Learn how to take successful pictures and use the creative settings on your digital camera!  The class will review camera operations, give creative tips on composition, lighting, and depth of field.  We will spend the morning learning in the classroom and then we will be taking photographs in the afternoon.  (Bring your digital camera.)

Drawing 1:  Beginner’s welcome!  An introduction to basic drawing skills, exploring the artist’s perception and drawing as a means for expression.  Through skill building exercises and structured practice, we will work on improving drawing techniques, explore line quality, value shading, and compositional elements.

Drawing 2:  Advanced drawing will focus on fundamentals of design, perspective, life-based drawing, and the development of artistic sensitivity and imagination.  Class will include gesture drawing, in-depth contour drawing, still life and landscape drawing techniques.

Glass Jewelry:  Design and create small, wearable, works of art!  Learn the techniques of glass fusing and build forms out of colored plate glass, frits, powders and rods.  Class will review all kiln processes and ways to finish your jewelry.

Hypertufa Garden Planters:  Create strong weather-safe containers for garden decoration.  Class will learn how to mix ingredients, make molds, and finish the planters.  These creative pots will add a unique flare to your garden!

Light Drawing Photography:  Use the night sky as a canvas and make drawings with light.  We will start by drawing on paper, work in teams to turn those drawings into an image of light and movement, and record your creative images using a night photography technique.

Pinhole Photography:  Build a camera out of household objects, learn the historical background of the camera and make your own pinhole photographs.

Poetry Writing:  This class will have an intensive focus on the art and practice of writing poetry.  Where does inspiration come from?  Why does poetry touch our senses?  What propels us to write?  All poetic forms will be explored and there will be ample time for contemplation, writing, and discussions.  Participants will have the opportunity to share their writing in a safe and encouraging setting with positive feedback from other writers.

Postcard Design:  Create your own personalized postcards.  Learn how to make miniature paintings of places that you visit, using watercolor paints, mixed media, and a collage of found objects.  Jeannie will share her own painting techniques and experiences traveling while painting postcards to send back to her friends / family.

Silk Painting:  An introduction to the techniques of silk painting, using a colored dye and resist procedure.  We will focus on designing wearable art and make unique silk scarves.

Ukrainian Egg Batik:  Create beautiful hand-painted eggs using the traditional Ukrainian technique of wax batiking intricate patterns onto eggshells and layering colored dyes. They make great Christmas ornaments!

Watercolor Painting:  An introduction to watercolor painting techniques and painting from life.  Class will make a series of paintings, exploring color mixing, textural approaches, determine good composition and layering paint to create form and depth.

Yoga:  An introductory yoga class is now scheduled!  The class will focus on the fundamentals of Anusara style yoga, establishing the healthy practice of yoga, including postural alignment, breath and active practice. 

Note:  Must bring a yoga mat, optional a yoga block and/or strap.
